Participation points (X4) Student spent full in-class time allotted on tasks.  Research notes and interview notes reflect curiosity and care. Student spent  in-class time allotted on tasks.  Research notes and interview notes are complete with some detail. Student is mildly distracted, but generally tries to complete in-class work.  Research/interview notes are complete enough to possibly do later writing assignment, but not detailed.  Mainly off-task during allotted time.  Notes are one-word/too short for later reflection and writing. not in attendance and/or not completed
Rough Draft (X5) Student turned draft in on or before due date.  All parts reflect interest in the interviewee and his/her story.  Few problem areas grammatically/structurally. Length of paper is 500 words, which includes info on war and character.  Includes picture. Paper submitted on due date.  Shows attempt to portray interviewee positively.  Some correctable problems structurally.  Paper is at least 250 words, includes info on war and person; may or may not have picture. Paper submitted within two days of due date.  Tone is strictly informative.  Paper may be shorter than 250 words or have neglected one of the sections. May have plagiarized historical. Several problems grammatically or structurally. No photo Lateness.  Draft shows carelessness in reporting history or character; too short or plagiarized. Mechanics.  No photo. Not submitted
